Launch of a new mobile app for the Siksika Nation

SIKSIKA, Alberta, July 12, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The The Chief and Council of the Siksika Nation fulfilled their mandate to foster the growth, independence and well-being of the Siksika culture and way of life by investing in a customized mobile app for the community.

The Siksika Nation has a large membership – about 7,800 – and almost half live off reserve. To inform people living outside the Nation of the services, programs and benefits to which they are entitled, the Nation has invested in the development of a personalized mobile application.

The nation’s leaders chose to work with Aivia Inc. (which developed the Communikit application platform on which the Siksika application is built) for a variety of reasons. Still, an important point in favor of the platform was the level of security that the platform offers to Siksika members. In addition to receiving push notifications from the Tribal Administration of the Siksika Nation about news, events, documents, resources, job opportunities and announcements, users can submit information to the Tribal Administration of the Siksika Nation via fillable forms available in the app. Information submitted by users in this manner is not stored on any of Communikit’s servers; Information submitted through the app is sent directly to Siksika Nation leaders via email with all data encrypted.

Chief Ouray Crowfoot explained how the Nation uses the app, saying, “We regularly make a lot of resources available to our members, so an app that goes beyond our borders will help expand our community share. that we can serve. Transparency has been a hallmark of our administration, being able to send notifications and post content to our members at any time will make group members informed even more easily.

Tribal Director Richard Sparvier added, “A centralized information distribution system that our members can rely on, as opposed to social media like Facebook or Twitter, provides greater confidence in data security and keeps posts on the topic.

The Nation app is available for iOS and Android devices – download it for free today and never miss an update from Siksika Nation!
